FallTech has created the FT-One Ultra-Lite, a next-generation full-body harness designed to minimize weight while increasing workers’ breathability, comfort, and movement at height.
The FT-One Ultra-Lite continues the design philosophy of FallTech’s flagship FT-One platform while pushing harness engineering to new heights. The new model is approximately 30% lighter than the original FT-One, thanks to a full redesign of materials, hardware, and structural components that does not compromise the strength required for fall arrest systems.
At the heart of the design is the use of titanium alloy D-rings, which is a first in fall prevention harness construction. These aerospace-grade components are stronger than aluminum and lighter than standard steel hardware, with corrosion resistance ideal for demanding industrial situations.
The harness also features vented webbing and reengineered gel padding to improve ventilation and decrease heat accumulation during long labor sessions. Raised cushioning structures and ventilation channels assist drain heat and moisture, keeping workers cool and comfortable throughout the day.
Low-profile magnetic strap connectors that secure loose adjustment straps and streamlined trauma packs positioned closer to the waist reduce bulk and snag concerns. These characteristics work together to provide more freedom of movement while preserving the durability required of professional fall prevention equipment.
“We challenged ourselves to rethink what a full-body harness could be,” explained Zack Winters, FallTech’s Director of Product and Applied Engineering. “Our goal with the FT-One Ultra-Lite was to push harness design to its technological limits while being completely compatible with safety requirements. We assist workers stay comfortable, mobile, and focused on the job by decreasing weight and enhancing airflow while maintaining strength.
