Graywind has introduced Motorized Arched and Angled Shades, bringing operable smart shading to arches, triangles, trapezoids and other window shapes that standard treatments often leave fixed or uncovered.
Specialty-shaped windows are common in vaulted rooms, gables and stairwells, but many end up with fixed coverings or no treatment. The Santa Clara, Calif., company offers a custom-built cellular shade that opens and closes, giving homeowners light and privacy control on these hard-to-fit openings.
Six shapes are available: arch, elongated arch, triangle, elongated triangle, trapezoid and isosceles trapezoid. Each shade uses a honeycomb cell structure that adds insulation at the glass. Buyers can choose blackout or light-filtering fabric.
Motorization is built in for windows that sit high and out of reach. An optional solar panel can keep the motor charged without hardwiring. The shades are sold on Graywind.com as six made-to-order products.
