Andersen’s new EPDs highlight its continued leadership in product openness. As EPDs become more widely recognized as critical tools for sustainable design, Andersen is happy to be one of the manufacturers making this level of environmental data publicly available.
Andersen Windows, the manufacturer of America’s most trusted brand of windows and doors*, today announced the release of three new Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for 14 non-coastal window products from its 100 Series, 400 Series, and A-Series product lines, demonstrating the company’s commitment to sustainability, product transparency, and environmental stewardship.
Newly validated Andersen window products include:
- 100 Series: awning, casement, single-hung, gliding, picture
- 400 series: awning, casement, double-hung, gliding, picture
- A-Series: Awning, Casement, Double-Hung, Picture
“At Andersen, sustainability is not just a goal—it’s our responsibility,” said George Bandy, Jr., Andersen’s chief sustainability officer. “These three new EPDs demonstrate our strong commitment to transparency and continuous development. By educating our consumers, communities, and the environment about the benefits of our goods, we are advancing meaningful change. This level of transparency is an important step in our road to a more circular and resilient built environment.”
An EPD is a third-party-verified document that assesses a product’s influence on important environmental variables such as carbon emissions, water usage, and energy consumption. A full lifecycle assessment (LCA) is used to determine these impacts, which in this case span the entire cradle-to-gate process, from raw material extraction and transportation to production. EPDs standardize this data, allowing for simpler product comparisons and promoting transparency in sustainable design and construction.
Andersen’s EPDs complement our existing product certifications, including Indoor Advantage Gold for indoor air quality and recycled content, to assist architects and designers in achieving green building certifications like LEED, WELL, Green Globes, and Living Building Challenge. These declarations provide important data for embodied carbon estimates while maintaining Andersen’s renowned design flexibility. Customers may create unique locations while knowing the environmental impact of their selections thanks to customized certified product alternatives that range in color, size, and shape. All Andersen EPDs adhere to ISO 14025 standards.
“Andersen’s new EPDs highlight its continued leadership in product openness. As EPDs become more widely recognized as critical tools for sustainable design, Andersen is happy to be one of the manufacturers making this level of environmental data publicly available,” said Bandy. “We’re committed to advancing accountability and empowering our customers with the information they need to make more sustainable choices.”
This milestone builds on Andersen’s environmental leadership record and contributes to the company’s overall sustainability strategy, which includes lowering greenhouse gas emissions, decreasing waste, and creating goods with circularity in mind.
