CITGO Petroleum Corporation recently introduced Mystik JT-6 Heavy Duty SynBlend 460 Moly Plus #2 (HD460 Moly Plus #2), the latest addition to their premium line of JT-6 greases. CITGO Lubricants’ General Manager, Braden McElroy, explains that the new HD460 Moly Plus #2 grease, engineered with advanced technology and designed for severe-duty applications, outperforms traditional molybdenum disulfide (moly)-based greases. It is ideal for equipment operating in dirty, wet, and high-load environments found in the construction and mining industries. “This new product reflects our commitment to innovation by delivering enhanced protection in severe-duty applications, helping reduce unplanned downtime and lower overall maintenance costs.”
This cutting-edge grease contains moly for improved abrasion resistance and outperforms typical moly-based greases in terms of load carrying capacity and thermal stability. HD 460 Moly Plus #2, which includes a lithium complex thickener, is compatible with the majority of North American greases, making product changes across mixed fleets easier. It also contains ISO 460 synthetic-blend base oils and has strong extreme pressure (EP) performance to assist extend equipment life and prevent costly repairs.
Molybdenum is only part of the solution. HD460 Moly Plus #2 includes the following features:
- High weld strength and wear resistance protect components from shock loading, impact, and boundary lubrication conditions, which can cause premature pin and bushing failure.
- Effective adhesion in wet circumstances, withstanding water washout and high-pressure spray-off during rain, washdowns, and muddy jobsite conditions where grease loss can expose metal surfaces to premature wear.
- Low oil separation helps keep it in place.
- Effective oxidation resistance for longer service intervals.
- The dropping point is 500°F, which allows for high-temperature applications.
