Alpen Introduces AlpenGlass

AlpenGlass uses unique thin glass (0.5-1.1mm) combinations to improve window insulation, comfort, and noise attenuation while preserving the weight, thickness, and style of current windows.

Alpen High Performance Products (Alpen), the leading American developer of revolutionary window, door, and insulated glass technology, has launched its newest product line, AlpenGlass insulated thin-glass units (IGUs). AlpenGlass uses unique thin glass (0.5-1.1mm) combinations to improve window insulation, comfort, and noise attenuation while preserving the weight, thickness, and style of current windows.

Alpen has deployed millions of square feet of thin-glass units throughout all 50 states over the last five years, but AlpenGlass marks the first time the modules will be offered for integration into third-party residential and commercial architectural glass applications.

“Alpen has been a pioneer in thin glass windows since we started working with the Department of Energy and National Labs in 2018,” says Andrew Zech, CEO of Alpen. “AlpenGlass cheaply turns windows with glass pockets as tiny as ¾” into high-performance triple and quad pane units ready to fulfill the most demanding code or Energy Star criteria.” We’ve perfected our production and deployment processes throughout hundreds of projects and millions of square feet of IGUs. Now we’re ready to share our experience with the larger commercial and residential markets.”

AlpenGlass provides thermal insulation of up to R15 at a tenth of the cost of vacuum insulated glass (VIG). Units provide improved condensation management, acoustic performance, and UV protection, as well as a comprehensive range of safety, impact, and bird-safe glazing options. AlpenGlass product lines have industry-leading low embodied carbon levels. Alpen has formed a relationship with long-time collaborator Kensington HPP to service east coast demand from facilities outside Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Alpen’s cooperation enables it to instantly grow production and efficiently serve consumers from coast to coast.

“Buildings, particularly their windows, are a major source of energy waste. Existing technology allows us to minimize building energy use by 20 to 30 percent. This is not science fiction. Zech stated that it is currently available and cost-competitive. “Alpen’s window and door designs are wonderful, but they cannot fulfill every requirement. AlpenGlass enables us to work with other window companies, glaziers, architects, and builders to broaden our effect. “It lifts all boats.”

Alpen designs and builds all of its products in the United States. Visit AlpenGlass’s website to learn more.
