Andersen Corporation Invests in Ubiquitous Energy’s Transparent Solar Technology

Andersen Corporation, the world’s largest manufacturer of innovative windows and doors, announced a strategic investment in Ubiquitous Energy, the global leader in transparent photovoltaic technology that turns light into power while remaining visible utilizing semiconductor materials.

Through Andersen windows, the proprietary glass coating process aims to bring solar energy into houses.

Andersen, a long-time industry pioneer, sees this investment as part of the company’s commitment to leading the industry with new solutions that improve the homeowner experience and make the world a better place.

The UE Power technology from Ubiquitous Energy is the first patented and transparent photovoltaic glass coating that generates electricity from solar power while appearing almost identical to ordinary windows.

The technology gives the clear, natural experience that traditional windows are known for, while simultaneously generating renewable energy that may be utilized for self-contained, onboard power, and smart home functions, or to balance energy consumption elsewhere.

It is a solar power asset that works in conjunction with a portfolio of other renewable technologies to achieve a larger, cumulative effect.

“Ubiquitous Energy’s transparent photovoltaic technology is revolutionary and represents a new horizon for the fenestration industry,” said Jay Lund, chairman and CEO of Andersen Corporation.

“As America’s premier window and patio door manufacturer, Andersen is excited to support the work of Ubiquitous Energy to bring solar power into homes and commercial buildings through windows and doors, creating new opportunities for energy efficiency, cost savings, and smart home integrations that will both delight homeowners and contribute to a healthier planet.”

With over 225 patents to its record, Andersen’s devotion to innovation has altered the window and door industry year after year.

The investment in Ubiquitous Energy demonstrates the company’s long-term interest in pushing externally produced innovative technological solutions with the potential to considerably elevate the sector.

Ubiquitous Energy recently closed its Series B fundraising round, allowing the business to expedite the manufacturing and commercialization of its UE PowerTM technology.

Andersen and Ubiquitous Energy are collaborating to make it easier for more people to benefit from solar energy while also considerably decreasing building carbon footprints.

“We are thrilled to bring on Andersen as a new funding partner,” stated Susan Stone, CEO of Ubiquitous Energy.

“We are committed to making an enormous impact environmentally and this latest funding round will help expand what’s possible in a renewable energy portfolio and change the way the world utilizes solar power – one window at a time.”
