Introducing the SpecSeal Firestop Block by Specified Technologies

The SpecSeal Firestop Block, one of an extended series of firestopping solutions, is an intumescent foam block designed to seal medium to large holes in fire-rated floors and walls.

Specified Technologies Inc. has introduced its newest building invention, the SpecSeal Firestop Block. The SpecSeal Firestop Block, one of an extended series of firestopping solutions, is an intumescent foam block designed to seal medium to large holes in fire-rated floors and walls.

SpecSeal Firestop Blocks are easy to install in a brick-like method and may be trimmed to cover any gaps or voids. Its compressible nature allows it to adhere to penetrating materials such as cables, cable trays, conduits, or pipelines, making difficult penetration firestop applications a breeze. Under fire conditions, the intumescent blocks expand up to 300%, blocking the passage for fire, smoke, and hot gasses. SpecSeal Firestop Blocks are UL-certified to ASTM E814 (UL 1479) and CAN/ULC S115.

The Specified Technologies (STI) documentation for the new SpecSeal Firestop Block is accessible at the following location: SpecSeal Firestop Block.

“We are proud of our latest breakthrough and the material science that underpins it. Our consumers asked for a firestop block. Knowing the environmental demands of the applications, our product research team prioritized the foam structure, which provides exceptional low moisture absorption, hydrolytic stability, low temperature flexibility, and severe chemical resistance. “It’s not just another brick in the wall,” explains Stephen Bennett, STI’s product manager.

Specified Technologies Inc. supports life and building safety by creating revolutionary fire prevention systems and digital technologies to help prevent the spread of fire, smoke, and hot gases. Our SpecSeal and EZ Path product lines are designed for simple installation and powerful performance, which often results in lower installed costs. Because firestopping is our primary company, we devote all of our resources to offering the finest quality, fully tested, creative firestopping solutions.
