With WINT, the Empire State Building Improves its Sustainability and Eliminates Potential Water Damage

WINT Water Intelligence, a pioneer in cutting-edge water management and leak-prevention solutions for construction, commercial, and industrial applications, has teamed up with the Empire State Realty Trust to optimize water consumption, reduce environmental footprint, and mitigate the risk of potential leak damage at the iconic Empire State Building.

As part of its larger commercial and retail real estate portfolio, ESRT owns the Empire State Building. It is a leader in sustainability, healthy buildings, and indoor environmental quality. To achieve its sustainability goals, ESRT will implement cutting-edge advanced technologies.

“Water sustainability is becoming an increasingly pressing issue in the built environment. Water scarcity is a major global issue, and the use of water results in significant energy consumption and carbon emissions “said Yaron Dycian, WINT’s chief product, and strategy officer.

“Water leaks also cause extensive damage to facilities and can significantly disrupt operations. WINT provides businesses with a powerful, AI-based solution to the problems caused by water waste and leaks, and our systems produce real-world results.”

ESRT installed WINT systems at various water locations throughout the Empire State Building to achieve its water conservation and leak-protection goals.

WINT systems use advanced artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies to assist building and facility owners and management teams in avoiding the costs associated with water waste and damage.

WINT assisted ESRT in meeting a number of sustainability and financial objectives at the Empire State Building.

With WINT systems installed, ESRT reduced water consumption by 7.5 million gallons, saving $100,000 per year and reducing carbon emissions by more than 300 metric tons.

“The results throughout our partnership with WINT greatly exceeded our expectations,” said Dana Robbins Schneider, SVP, director of energy, sustainability, and ESG at ESRT.

“WINT has enabled us to address both water sustainability and carbon emissions over the last year, helping to improve the Empire State Building’s environmental footprint. We are concerned with investment and return, and WINT has a very positive financial result. It returned our investment in three months, which is much faster than is typical for similar ESG and infrastructure projects.”
