Mid-Continent Delivers 3.5 Million Nails to Complete Donation

Mid-Continent Steel and Wire (MCSW), the country’s largest nail manufacturer, announced that it has delivered 3.5 million MAGNUM nails made in the United States to Kentucky Habitat for Humanity.

During National Rebuilding Month, the company donated $20,000 to Kentucky disaster relief efforts and pledged to donate nails to blitz housing projects in Bowling Green and Dawson Springs.

As residents ramp up efforts to rebuild and restore, this delivery fulfills the company’s pledge.

Hundreds of people are still living in temporary housing, including travel trailers, hotel rooms, and state parks, months after the tornadoes struck.

Kentucky Governor Beshear recently announced a fourth round of tornado recovery aid to assist families while their homes and lives are rebuilt.

“The Mid-Continent family believes we all need to do our part to build better and stronger communities,” said Mid-Continent CEO Fernando Villanueva.

“It feels good to see millions of MAGNUM nails made in the United States on the ground in Kentucky. They will contribute to the construction and reconstruction of safe homes for the residents of Bowling Green and Dawson Springs.”

Mid Continent’s contributions to Kentucky Habitat for Humanity will be divided between projects in two areas of the state that were hardest hit by the December tornadoes.

The Bowling Green project will include ten homes and is scheduled to begin construction in mid-July. The Dawson Springs project, which will include 14 homes, is set to break ground next fall.

Kentucky Habitat for Humanity executive director Mary Shearer said of the partnership with Mid-Continent, “We cannot thank Mid-Continent Steel and Wire enough for their support, passion, and dedication to not only Habitat for Humanity, but the countless families we will serve with their donations. It is because of companies like Mid-Continent and your employees that Habitat is going to rebuild the lives and communities of those who lost so much!”
