Moen Expands the Industry’s First Whole-Home Connected Water Product Suite to the Outdoors

With the expansion of its award-winning smart water technology to the area of the home where homeowners use the most water – the yard* – Moen is linking homeowners to the water flowing inside and outside of their homes like never before.

With several smart water innovations, the Moen Smart Water Network already allows homeowners to monitor and control the water inside their home, and now, with the addition of Moen’s Smart Sprinkler Controller and compatible Smart Wireless Soil Sensors, they can easily connect their lawn irrigation system to monitor their water for more control, automation, and conservation.

“The Moen Smart Water Network has changed the perceptions of how consumers think about water in their home,”stated Mason Hall, Fortune Brands Innovations’ head of connected products.

“Consumers’ daily interactions with plumbing have been, up until now, limited to the fixtures, showers and faucets. Pipes behind a home’s walls have always been an invisible mystery, only becoming top of mind when a critical problem arises. Today, our innovations provide knowledge and understanding of that system and the ability to control and manage all the home’s water from the palm of your hand while enhancing convenience, security and conservation efforts.”

When homeowners have both the Smart Sprinkler Controller and the Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff, they will have unprecedented control over their home’s water and will be able to improve their conservation efforts.

In fact, because outdoor irrigation systems consume so much water on a daily basis, the Smart Sprinkler Controller may lower an ordinary home’s irrigation water use by up to 30%, saving the home up to 15,000 gallons of water per year when compared to a clock-based controller. **

The Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff – which serves as the network’s brain – Smart Leak Detectors, Smart Sump Pump Monitor, Smart Faucet, Smart Shower, and the Smart Sprinkler Controller with Wireless Soil Sensors – a 2023 CES Innovation Award Honoree – are among the products in the Smart Water Network.

Each device in the network can function independently or link with other Moen smart water items via the Smart Water App, giving users with unparalleled benefits such as:

Automated water security: Water damage is five times more frequent than theft***, and water is one of the most consumed resources in our houses, so simplifying how we handle it is critical. The Smart Water Network makes it simple to conserve water. While homeowners go about their daily lives, the Smart Water Security System monitors for potential water dangers and leaks in the background and can automatically take action to warn the user, cut off the water, and help secure the home.

Water monitoring: According to a national study conducted by Moen in 2022****, while most Americans recognize that there is a water shortage, they are not completely aware of the goods and techniques available to help them conserve more at home. Water monitoring not only alerts homeowners to potential problems, but it also provides them with more information about their water usage. Water usage can now be viewed room by room, where Moen smart water devices are situated. This data also assists users in setting conservation goals and becoming more resource conscious. Furthermore, using the Smart Sprinkler Controller, customers may adjust outdoor watering based on their yard’s precise demands to minimize overwatering, as well as act on local watering limits.

Personalized experiences: Users can configure personalized presets inside the app to regulate the particular temperature and amount of water supplied by their kitchen faucet, as well as personalize preferred motions for Smart Faucets with Motion Control operation.

Smart home integration: Users may use their smart speakers to activate shower and kitchen fixtures, adjust water temperatures, and dispense specified measurements for entirely touchless interactions by connecting their Moen smart water devices to their existing smart home platform.

The Moen Smart Water App enhances the Smart Water Network even further by improving the customer experience and product performance with 24/7 alerts. The app includes the following features:

Winterize: Are you leaving town for the winter? Manually activate the ecosystem by using the Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff to turn off the water coming into the house and then purging the water line with the Smart Faucet or Smart Shower.

Burst Protect: Reduce the possibility of pipe bursts. When the system detects that high pressure or cold temperatures may cause pipes to freeze, this feature immediately shuts off water to the home.

Health Protect: Maintain clean and fresh water. Health Protect will flush the water lines via the Smart Faucet or Smart Shower to remove any water that has accumulated while users are away for extended periods of time.

“Whether the goal is conservation, a beautiful yard, convenience or protection, these easy-to-integrate solutions do the hard work for users so they can enjoy doing what they love most while also making the most of our world’s most precious resource – our water,” Hall added.
