Timberline Solar by GAF Energy has been recognized in Fast Company’s 2022 Innovation by Design Awards

GAF Energy, a Standard Industries company and a leading provider of solar roofing in North America, has been recognized in both the Impact and Home and Products categories of Fast Company’s Innovation by Design Awards for 2022.

The Innovation by Design Awards recognize designers and businesses that are solving today’s most pressing problems and anticipating tomorrow’s most pressing issues.

The competition, now in its 11th year, attracts a diverse group of blue-chip companies, emerging startups, and hungry young talent. It is one of the industry’s most coveted design awards.

Timberline Solar was launched by GAF Energy in January, and a new 450,000 square foot manufacturing facility in Georgetown, Texas, was recently broken ground.

“We’re thrilled to be honored and recognized as solving the world’s most crucial problems through design,” GAF Energy President Martin DeBono stated.

“Homeowners care about the look and feel of their home, and Timberline Solar combines clean energy production with long-lasting roofing in an appealing roofing shingle. We believe Timberline Solar is the game-changing innovation that will accelerate residential solar adoption—and the GAF Energy team, as well as the Standard Industries companies as a whole, is working hard every day to lead the next generation of clean energy adoption.”

The Innovation by Design judges panel includes renowned designers from a variety of disciplines, business leaders from some of the world’s most innovative companies, and Fast Company’s own writers and editors.

Entries are evaluated based on the following criteria: functionality, originality, beauty, sustainability, user insight, cultural impact, and business impact. Winners, finalists, and honorable mentions are featured online and in Fast Company’s October print issue.

Since its launch earlier this year, the Timberline Solar ES has received numerous awards and honors, including the CES Best of Innovation award, Green Builder Sustainable Home Award, Good Housekeeping Editor’s Choice for CES 2022, NAHB Best of IBS Awards, Most Innovative Construction Tool, and others.
