Specified Technologies Inc. Launches Completely Redesigned Cast-In Device for Construction Projects

Specified Technologies Inc. (STI), a leading maker of firestop, smoke, and sound building solutions, has announced the release of the all-new, Made in the USA SpecSeal Cast-In Firestop Device (CID).

CIDs are designed to be installed in concrete floors to create fire-resistant openings for various through-penetrating devices. The reinvented SpecSeal Cast-In-Device combines a sleeve, firestop, and watertight seal into a single device. The new SpecSeal CID is tough, stiff, and long-lasting, thanks to its ABS and polypropylene construction. The gadget is bi-directional, allowing you to install plastic or metal pipes, cables, or insulated pipes from either the top or bottom side of the floor.

The SpecSeal CID extension is designed with efficiency in mind, with adjustable pins that allow you to simply tune the device’s height to depth of pour from 8″ to 36″. Furthermore, this revised version of the CID contains a W-rating, which provides end users with the best protection against water damage. Why does this matter? W ratings are used for more than just weather protection in open areas. They provide critical protection in the event of a burst pipe by sealing the water leak and keeping the flooring beneath dry. Every building is prone to a burst pipe, hence every CID should have a W rating.

“The most exciting part of the SpecSeal CID is all the improvements we have made compared to our original device. The new device is sturdier and more rugged than ever. We also added a watertight seal, an easy-to-adjust mechanism for concrete height variance, and made installation bi-directional for both floor and ceiling penetrations. Even with all the feature upgrades, we are proud to say the new CID is still Made in the USA and is competitively priced in the marketplace. We do not want our customers to have to pick-and-choose features. With the SpecSeal CID, there is no more comprising: the all-in cast-in device has finally arrived,” Stephen Bennett, Product Manager at STI stated.
