LAMVIN introduced Sonic Theater Board on Sept. 23, 2026, a rigid, black, Class A fire-rated sound-absorptive board that installers can cut to size in the field to reduce reverberation in commercial, educational, hospitality and entertainment spaces.
The Oceanside, Calif., Catalyst Acoustics Group brand notes that designers are prioritizing occupant comfort and speech intelligibility in shared spaces such as workplaces, schools, performance venues and restaurants.
The lightweight product can be cut to size with a standard utility knife. The boards suit nearly any ceiling grid, so they work for renovations as well as new construction.
Sonic Theater Board comes in standard 4 x 8 ft boards, plus 2 x 2 ft or 2 x 4 ft tiles cut to size. It is offered in 3 lb. and 6 lb. densities, in 1-inch and 2-inch thicknesses. The product is Class A fire rated in accordance with ASTM E84.
Installation methods include Z-Clips, L-Brackets, and Rotofast Snap-On and Cloud Anchors.
“Every project has unique acoustic challenges, and customers need products that are both effective and easy to work with,” said David Castellanos, LAMVIN’s VP of Sales & Business Development. “Sonic Theater Board gives contractors and designers the flexibility to customize board sizes right in the field while delivering the sound absorption needed to transform noisy spaces into more comfortable, functional environments.”
