Amerlux Unveils Industry-First Grid-to-Grid Cove Lighting System

Unlike typical systems, the fixture creates the cove, eliminating the need for framing, drywall, and on-site building.

Amerlux introduced Grid Cove, the industry’s first completely integrated, out-of-the-box cove lighting system built for ACT grid ceilings. Unlike typical systems, the fixture creates the cove, eliminating the need for framing, drywall, and on-site building.

Grid Cove, which was previously considered a luxury reserved for hard ceilings, allows cove lighting to be integrated into standard 2×2 or 2×4 grid ceiling systems, transforming standard commercial, retail, and hospitality spaces into elegant environments without the high cost, mess, or complexity of traditional cove lighting systems.

Grid Cove is already gaining attention in the design community. The fixture was named a Top Ten Must-See at LEDucation 2025 and was nominated for the coveted [d]arc award.

“Grid Cove brings indirect lighting to spaces where it was once thought impossible, elevating grid ceilings from basic to breathtaking,” stated Chuck Campagna, Amerlux’s President and CEO. “It’s an affordable choice for designers and builders looking for upmarket aesthetics and the impact of drywall coves—delivered sooner, at a lower cost, and with improved functionality. We’re excited to bring this new product to market.”

    What Makes Grid Cove Unique

Campagna highlights five significant elements that set Grid Cove apart from competitors and traditional cove lighting solutions:

    • Hassle-Free Installation: Installation is hassle-free Grid Cove attaches easily onto standard 2×2 and 2×4 ACT ceiling grids, with no framing, cutting, or spackling necessary. The fixture itself creates the cove, removing the need for traditional construction.
    • Precision Performance: Amerlux’s Grid Cove lighting solution uses proprietary broad asymmetric optics to provide smooth, uniform illumination over ceilings and walls, achieving over 100 lumens per watt and satisfying IES-recommended footcandles without extra lighting.
    • Cost-Effective Architecture: Grid Cove duplicates the appearance of hand-built drywall coves without the cost, work, or cleanup associated with custom construction.
    • Expanded Product Family: The architectural lighting line now includes the Grid Cove Perimeter Wash, which mounts on the perimeter and creates a spectacular wall wash effect, as well as the Grid Cove Wall Mount, a wall-mounted uplight with a slim profile that uses the Grid Cove’s optics.
    • Monolithic Aesthetic: Grid Cove’s monolithic aesthetic, created in collaboration with premier lighting designers, features clean, unbroken lines and ceiling integration that appear unified and intentional.
