Cemex’s Revolutionary Lower-Carbon Concrete Premieres in Florida, Strengthening the Foundation of Master-Planned Community

Cemex announced that Vertua, its portfolio of sustainable products, is now accessible in Florida.

This massive residential project, which lays the groundwork for hundreds of new homes in Sarasota County, Florida, demonstrates Cemex’s dedication to environmental responsibility and driving the construction sector toward a more resilient future.

Rockwell Building Systems commissioned Cemex to strengthen residences in Brightmore, a subdivision of Mattamy residences’ master-planned community Wellen Park, with their Vertua lower-carbon concrete. Mattamy Homes is the largest privately held homebuilder in North America. This collaboration demonstrates the shared goal of reducing environmental impact while providing high-quality construction solutions, making it an excellent alternative for a wide range of sustainable construction projects. Concrete is the most commonly used man-made substance in the world, and it plays an important part in societal development and advancement. Concrete is essential for storm protection because of its strength and durability, which allow it to survive severe weather conditions such as strong rainfall, high winds, and flooding.

“We are thrilled to bring Vertua to Florida and collaborate on Mattamy Homes’ new residential endeavor in Sarasota County,” stated Jeff Bobolts, Cemex U.S. Regional President – East Region. “This product represents a significant leap forward in sustainable construction, helping set a higher standard for environmentally responsible building practices not only in the region, but throughout the country.”

Using Vertua in such important projects helps Cemex advance its Future in Action program, which focuses on producing lower-carbon products, solutions, and processes in order to create a net-zero CO2 firm. Cemex has significantly reduced its carbon footprint by adopting innovative technologies and sustainable practices, all while maintaining strength, durability, and performance. This project establishes a precedent for future developments, proving that sustainable construction is not only an option, but a requirement for building a better future.
