The New Performance+ Fiberglass Insulation Portfolio from Knauf Is CERTIFIED to be Hypoallergenic and Asthma Friendly

Knauf Insulation, Inc., a leading, family-owned global manufacturer of fiberglass insulation, announced the introduction of its new HVAC fiberglass insulation product line, Knauf Performance+.

Knauf Insulation, Inc., a leading, family-owned global manufacturer of fiberglass insulation, announced the introduction of its new HVAC fiberglass insulation product line, Knauf Performance+. This product line is the first of its type to be certified asthma and allergy friendly, as well as the only formaldehyde-free HVAC fiberglass insulation line.

The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) and Allergy Standards Limited (ASL) launched the Asthma and Allergy Friendly Certification Program to certify items that are better suited to asthma and allergies. To become approved, goods must pass third-party physical and chemical testing to verify they reduce allergy exposure and limit pollutants in the indoor environment.

“We care deeply about what goes into our products, how they are made, and, most importantly, how they will impact installers and occupants,” said Nathan Walker, SVP Sales, Marketing, and Innovation. “Knauf’s commitment to indoor air quality is long-standing, demonstrated by pioneering bio-based, formaldehyde-free binder ECOSE, and our status as the first building products manufacturer to achieve GREENGUARD certification.”

In a world where indoor air pollution is 2 to 5 times higher than outdoor air (EPA), enhancing indoor air quality is crucial. The Knauf Performance+ range is formaldehyde-free and has low levels of VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds), greatly lowering the risk of asthma and allergy triggers.

National Asthma and Allergy Awareness Month takes place in May, and it is committed to increasing understanding, education, and advocacy for the 100 million individuals in the United States who suffer from asthma or allergies. Childhood asthma is the greatest cause of disease-related school absenteeism, accounting for almost 10 million missed school days each year.

“We commend Knauf’s proactive approach to addressing indoor air quality concerns through the expansion of their CERTIFIED product line,” said Dr. John McKeon, CEO of Allergy Standards Ltd. “By meeting our rigorous standards, Knauf reaffirms its commitment to provide high-quality products that contribute to improved indoor air quality.”

“Knauf intends to remove formaldehyde from all of its remaining products by the end of 2024. “This move establishes a new standard for the manufacture of high-performance building materials,” adds Walker.
