Slate Technologies Introduces a Digital Assistant for Construction That Uses AI and Machine Learning to Increase Revenue and Productivity on Building and Infrastructure Projects

Slate Technologies, an AI software platform for the construction industry, announced the launch of a digital assistant for the industry.

Slate uses AI and machine learning to increase construction professionals’ productivity by enabling better, earlier decision-making to keep building projects on schedule and maximize revenue.

Skanska, a multinational construction company, is one of the company’s early development partners.

In contrast to other construction software platforms, the Slate Digital Assistant performs multi-dimensional analysis across internal and external data sources, learning as it goes to provide complete transparency into the building process.

ERP systems, emails, RFIDs, 3D models, and other construction-related information are among the data sources, as are public data such as weather, labor, and traffic; dark data locked in silos; and non-integrated systems within a general contractor and subcontractor organizations.

“We’re very grateful for Slate in helping Skanska navigate the valuable unstructured data that doesn’t sit in one place and doesn’t sit in a beautifully crafted data lake or data warehouse,” said Andrew MacAskill, Operational Efficiency Director at Skanska UK.

“It’s been such a fruitful partnership for us, and we genuinely believe Slate could be a game-changing opportunity for the whole industry and we wanted to be part of its development and be in it from the very start.”

According to McKinsey, global labor-productivity growth in the construction sector has averaged 1% per year over the last two decades, compared to 2.8 percent for the global economy as a whole and 3.6 percent for manufacturing.

Slate’s proprietary dynamic scheduling capabilities ensure that change decisions can immediately update an overall schedule and the order of individual tasks by integrating and analyzing data from almost any location.

This significantly improves efficiency, enhancing every step of the construction process. Slate’s data insights are valuable to the executive suite as well as any individual executing tasks on a project due to its integrations with the software and systems of subcontractors and material suppliers.

“Slate is the catalyst for a significant shift in how we deliver buildings, where software works hand-in-hand with humans to transform productivity and profitability,” said Slate CEO Jeff Bettencourt.

“In the construction industry, a building project is only on time the day its master schedule is created. Slate enables construction companies for the first time to see what is happening with all aspects of a project – including materials, workers, and weather – to detect problems and make changes along the way, minimizing waste and costs while maximizing productivity and revenue.”

Slate will attend the AGC General Convention 2022 in Grapevine, TX, from March 28 to March 31. Please contact scott@marketstreetgrp.com to schedule a meeting with Slate during the show.
