Milwaukee Tool Will Open New Facility in Mississippi

Milwaukee Tool has announced the addition of a new manufacturing facility to its U.S. footprint in Grenada, Mississippi. The 500,000-square-foot facility is expected to generate 1,200 new jobs in the surrounding community.

The new facility, which is scheduled to open in late 2022, will increase capacity for the company’s growing power tool accessory and power tool business. The plant, according to Milwaukee, will create 1,200 jobs in the area.

“Our new Grenada facility, as well as our ongoing investments in U.S. operations and manufacturing, will allow us to continue to serve our distribution partners and users with the speed, agility, and unparalleled levels of innovation that they’ve come to expect from Milwaukee Tool,” said Milwaukee Tool Group President Steve Richman in a statement.

Milwaukee announced a $60 million investment in advanced technology and manufacturing equipment to support the operation of the Grenada manufacturing facility, which spans 500,000 square feet.

The company’s employee headcount in the state has increased from 526 in 2010 to more than 2,343 in 2020 over the last decade.

“We’re excited to expand our presence in Mississippi, where we’ve been fortunate to attract, retain, and recruit some of the best talents in the country.” Our people and culture continue to be the bookends to our success.” Richman went on.

Milwaukee will bring 1,200 jobs to the region, 800 of which will be located in the new Grenada facility, with the remaining 400 spread across their existing Mississippi locations.

Milwaukee has been designing, engineering, and manufacturing products in the United States since 1924.

Milwaukee Tool’s parent company, Techtronic Industries, led by CEO Joe Galli, added, “Over the last decade, Milwaukee Tool has experienced rapid growth around the world, with sales increasing by more than 20% each year.” In the midst of this expansion, we will continue to aggressively invest in product development and diversify our manufacturing base through expansion projects in the United States.”

In the last five years, Milwaukee has invested $368 million in domestic expansion projects, and the company now employs 5,500 people in the United States.

Greenwood, Olive Branch, Jackson, Mississippi, as well as Brookfield, Menomonee Falls, Mukwonago, and Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, and Greenwood, Indiana, currently have manufacturing, distribution, and operations presences throughout the country.

Furthermore, the company announced plans last year for a new hand tool manufacturing plant in West Bend, Wisconsin, set to open in 2022.
