Daikin Applied Enhances Self-Contained HVAC System to Support Building Decarbonization

Designed to satisfy the special demands of floor-by-floor applications, the SWP J-Vintage provides a variety of features and benefits to assist customers in lowering their carbon footprint while retaining great performance and affordable costs.

Daikin Applied unveiled the next version of their self-contained HVAC system (Model SWP J-Vintage), a low-cost, high-efficiency device equipped with the low-global warming potential (GWP) R-32 refrigerant. Designed to satisfy the special demands of floor-by-floor applications, the SWP J-Vintage provides a variety of features and benefits to assist customers in lowering their carbon footprint while retaining great performance and affordable costs.

“The evolution of our self-contained system underscores Daikin Applied’s leadership in the industry’s transition to more sustainable HVAC solutions,” said Jim Macosko, vice president of product and sustainability solutions. The SWP J-Vintage establishes a new standard for self-contained units, providing exceptional efficiency and flexibility while also resolving crucial installation and maintenance challenges for building owners and facility managers.”

As consumers seek to decarbonize, the self-contained system is the first available with R-32, featuring higher efficiency and a lower charge limit, assuring safety in the event of a leak. The unit provides a smooth transition for existing customers of Daikin Applied’s self-contained systems, with familiar adaptable MicroTech® controls and a standardized ECM fan array for redundant operation, increasing total efficiency.

The SWP J-Vintage has a modular design that increases its versatility and ease of installation, making it particularly useful in retrofit situations. The design enables for easy disassembly and transportation via standard 34-inch doorframes. The modular design also allows for rapid on-site installation, which improves space efficiency and accommodates tight passageways common in commercial applications. Daikin’s adaptability ensures that the system can effortlessly integrate into a variety of building infrastructures, providing personalized HVAC solutions with minimal disruption to continuing operations.

The self-contained unit serves two primary vertical markets: residential high-rises and mid-rise office-style structures. With floor-by-floor usage capacity that allows for 1-2 units per floor, the device is particularly useful for property managers and building owners wishing to expedite installation and management while retaining high efficiency.

Daikin Applied is dedicated to pushing the HVAC industry toward greater sustainability by focusing on decarbonization and energy-efficient performance. The SWP J-Vintage is a testament to Daikin’s continued efforts to decarbonize commercial buildings through the use of innovative technology and environmentally benign refrigerants, which are consistent with Daikin’s overall aim of building a resilient and sustainable future.
