Rooster Introduces Asset Tracking System; Automated Equipment Activity Reporting For $1/Mo

The Rooster Asset Tracking System, the world’s first equipment management tool that captures every minute of powered, unpowered, and heavy equipment activity and automates reporting for as little as $1.00* per month, was launched by Rooster LLC, a Kansas-based Construction Technology (ConTech) company.

It is specifically designed to give visibility, accountability, and efficiency for everything from small powered or unpowered tools to heavy equipment and yellow iron. Simple, scalable, long-lasting, and automated.

Despite the fact that the construction technology market is packed with alternatives for fleet tracking, safety, and labor management, construction employees squander valuable time hunting for and manually accounting for equipment.

In fact, according to publisher forconstructionpros.com, “90 minutes per worker per day is spent looking for stuff.” Rooster built its cutting-edge toolset to track equipment and report activity so that humans don’t have to.

“As our equipment inventory grew, I needed a tool that would cost-effectively tell me, simply, what I owned, where it was, and when it was being used,” explained Dustin M. Gary, a 22-year construction industry veteran and CEO of DM Gary Holding Company, Rooster LLC’s parent company.

“I found expensive, complicated, and hard-to-deploy options that didn’t work for my growing business. I could use certain parts of one or the other, but nothing truly solved my need. That’s when we decided to build Rooster.”

The Rooster Asset Tracking System is made up of Rooster Hubs and Rooster Activity Trackers. Rooster Hubs are powerful data portals that use an LTE-M cellular connection to connect to the Cloud and give very accurate GPS location and activity data.

Rooster Activity Trackers are small, durable devices that, once put on any piece of equipment, monitor activity on a minute-by-minute basis and communicate that data to the nearest Rooster Hub for up to 5 years.

Unique to Rooster is:

  • Data from Activity Trackers is transmitted through most concrete and metal to any Rooster Hub within 12 miles via a long-range, low-power pairing technique based on the LoRa communications standard and covered by more than a dozen issued and pending patents.
  • There is no long-term contract and the monthly fee is $1 (USD) for each activated Activity Tracker and $10 (USD) for each activated Hub.
  • The ability to rapidly activate and deactivate any Hub or Activity Tracker, as well as control billing at will, using mobile phones’ Near-Field Communications (NFC) scanning technology. When equipment is in the yard for repair or new equipment is introduced to the inventory, equipment managers can activate and install Rooster devices.
  • While Rooster designed its system with cutting-edge technology, hardware costs are comparable to competing options. Advanced features include:
    • Battery life of up to 5 years on the market-leading Activity Tracker.
    • The revolutionary shake-and-wake design of Rooster, which includes a “sleep mode” that minimizes data and conserves battery power.
    • Heartbeat Tracker. Activity Trackers give a “heartbeat” to the System when they are hardly utilized.

“Our crews readily complete timesheets for time on the job, but getting accurate equipment use is nearly impossible,” DM Gary Holding Company’s CFO, Doran Schwartz, stated.

“With Rooster we can see and manage our assets more effectively; export succinct, reliable reports that back-up our time and materials billing; and optimize ROI for our equipment. It all goes straight to the bottom line,” he added.

Rooster provides a “Asset Tracking Starter Kit,” that comprises a Rooster Hub and accompanying AC and Flying Lead power adapters, four Rooster Activity Trackers, and four mounting choices. Customers only pay for activated devices controlled using the free Rooster Mobile App, which is available on Google Play and the Apple App Store with a self-service, order-on-demand sales strategy.

Their website offers expanded Rooster System packs, bulk prices, and a variety of accessories. By dialing 844-4ROOSTR, Rooster provides help videos, live customer support, and referrals to deployment partners (476-6787).

* A membership to Rooster Activity Tracker costs $1.00 (USD) each month. The monthly subscription fee for Rooster Hub is $10.00 (USD). The cost of the equipment varies; visit their website for additional information.
